Described by Newsweek as “the most hated Jew in Lithuania”, Zuroff coauthored the book with Rūta Vanagaitė, a grand-daughter of perpetrators. “Our People” tackles the sensitive issue of the motivation of thousands of ordinary Lithuanians complicit in the murder of Jewish neighbours. It records a remarkable journey in the search for neglected graves, includes eyewitness interviews and uncovers hints of the rich life that formerly existed in Lithuania’s many Jewish communities.

A distinguished historian, Zuroff was among the first to identify the phenomenon of Holocaust distortion in post-Communist Eastern Europe, and has been tireless in his efforts to combat this problem.

Rūta Vanagaitė is a well known theatre critic, author, and journalist.
